Privacy Policy
CalmRead was made because I wanted a better way to read without distractions.
It is designed to be simple and private by default. No accounts, no logins, no tracking.
Data Collection
CalmRead does not collect, store, or share personal data.
There are:
- no analytics
- no trackers
- no advertising SDKs
- no third-party data collection
Your reading activity stays on your device.
File Access
CalmRead can open local files such as:
- PDF
- EPUB
- DOCX
- TXT
- Markdown files
- other supported text-based formats
The app only accesses files and folders that you explicitly choose.
Users can select where the CalmRead library folder is located using Android’s built-in file picker system. This folder may contain reading files and subfolders managed by the user.
CalmRead does not scan, access, or upload unrelated files on your device.
All files remain stored locally on your device.
Reading History and Saved Content
CalmRead stores reading progress, bookmarks, and reading history locally on your device so you can continue where you left off.
This information is never uploaded or shared.
Internet Access
Internet access is only used when:
- opening a web link inside the app
- fetching publicly available reading content from the web
Browsing activity is not tracked or sold.
No Ads or Monetization
CalmRead does not include ads, trackers, or paid behavioral monitoring.
There is nothing in the app designed to profile users or monitor usage behavior.
A Note
I made CalmRead for myself first because reading online had started feeling exhausting.
It may help people with ADHD or anyone who wants a quieter reading experience. It may not work for everyone, and that’s okay.
The goal is simply to make reading feel calmer again.
